The wing below appears uniform in colour and condition, which in many species would suggest that the bird is ASY, but not enough is known about the timing and extent of moult in this species to come to that conclusion.

The rectrices appear broad and rounded, which for many species is an indication of an ASY bird, but no conclusions can be made regarding this bird without knowing more about the timing and extent of moult in Scaly-throated Leaftossers, or comparing with a known HY/SY bird to examine the shape and condition of its rectrices.
