McGILL BIRD OBSERVATORY

SPRING SCHEDULE 2011

Below is the current schedule for the spring 2011 season.  Note that start times represent meeting times at the banding station (not at the gate), so please allow enough time for travel.  Banding day start times are scheduled to allow us to have nets open by sunrise, after which they will remain open for 5 hours.  We strongly encourage all volunteers to remain for the entire session, which typically is around 6 hours in total, including processing of final birds and tallying of daily totals.

For each date we need at least one census observer and one experienced extractor to assist the Bander-in-charge (BIC), and up to four additional volunteers.  Census follows a standard route for one hour each morning, beginning one hour after sunrise.  It should be done by an experienced birder, but one or two less experienced observers may accompany the censuser. 

This volunteer list will be updated at least weekly and any significant changes to the schedule will be circulated via the MBO mailing list.  To be added/removed for any dates, e-mail us at mbo @ migrationresearch.org.  Dates which are already full for "additional" volunteers are marked in red - but note that we can often still use the help of qualified extractors on these mornings.
